I am an Associate Professor in the School of Liberal Arts at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) in Korea, and the Director of the Center for Digital Humanities. I also actively contribute to the international DH community, currently serving as the Korean Representative on the Constituent Organizations Board of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations (ADHO) and the Vice President of the Korean Association for Digital Humanities (KADH).
Research Highlights
As a specialist in early 20th-century Korean magazines, my research interests span media studies, cultural analytics, and generative AI. I translated Franco Moretti's seminal book, Graphs, Maps, Trees—which pioneered quantitative analysis in literary studies—into Korean (Munhakdongne, 2020). I am also the author of the English monograph Formation of Periodical Authorship in 1920s Korea: Distant and Close Reading (Routledge, 2023), which takes a quantitative approach to the institutional shaping of modern Korean literature in the early 20th century
